Car rental in Kobuleti
Kobuleti is a seaside resort half an hour north of Batumi, and most of what is worth seeing around it is not within walking distance: the beaches run for kilometres, Ureki with its black magnetic sand sits further along the coast, and the Kintrishi reserve is up in the mountains. A car opens this stretch of coast completely, with no minibus timetable involved. You pick the car up in Batumi or at Batumi airport — a 30 to 40 minute drive from Kobuleti along the coastal road.
Rental terms
- Minimum age 21, at least one year of driving experience. A second driver is free if they meet the same requirements.
- You need a passport and a driving licence from any country, originals only. An international permit is not required.
- No deposit. The exception is the premium class: $100, returned when you bring the car back.
- No prepayment to book — you pay when you pick the car up.
- Unlimited mileage, minimum rental period one day.
- Full insurance, a child seat and seasonal winter tyres are already included in the price.
Where to pick the car up
Our office is in Batumi, 24 Shavsheti Street. Delivery to a hotel in Batumi and to Batumi airport is free and available around the clock — if you are flying in, the car waits for you at the airport car park at any hour.
From either point Kobuleti is a 30 to 40 minute drive along the coastal road. The route is straightforward and hard to get wrong.
Handover itself takes 10 to 15 minutes: we inspect the car together, record its condition on video and sign the agreement.
Where to drive from Kobuleti
- Ureki — beaches of black magnetic sand, about 20 minutes up the coast.
- Batumi — the promenade, the cable car and the Botanical Garden, 30 to 40 minutes away.
- Kintrishi reserve — mountain rivers and an old arched bridge, the road climbs inland from the highway.
- Makhuntseti waterfall — the classic day trip in Adjara.
- Lake Paliastomi and Poti — if you want to go further up the coast.
The coastal roads are paved and easy. Mountain routes are allowed on every class except the premium cars and low sedans.
What to know about the insurance
Full insurance is included in the price. With two or more years of driving experience there is no excess; with less, an excess applies and its size depends on the make of the car and is agreed separately.
The insurance does not cover tyres or the underbody — anywhere, including gravel and mountain roads. We would rather say that up front than hide it in the small print: if you drive up to Kintrishi, take it slowly.
The insurance does not apply if the driver is under the influence. After an accident do not move the car, call 112 and tell us straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an international driving permit?
No. A national licence from any country plus your passport is enough, both as originals.
What deposit do you take?
There is no deposit. The exception is the premium class: $100, returned when the car comes back.
How can I pay?
We accept lari, roubles, dollars, euros and cryptocurrency. There is no prepayment to book — you pay at handover.
Can I return the car in another city?
Yes. You can pick the car up in one major city and return it in another — Batumi, Tbilisi, Kutaisi. Tbilisi to Batumi is usually free of charge; the opposite direction sometimes carries a fee, confirmed when you book.
Can I drive to Turkey?
Only if you hold a Georgian residence permit: this is a separate service, with a deposit and a fee that depends on the rental period. A tourist without a residence permit cannot cross the border in a rented car.
How long does booking confirmation take?
Usually 15 to 20 minutes, between 09:00 and midnight, on WhatsApp or Telegram. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up.
Where exactly do I collect the car?
In Batumi — at our office on 24 Shavsheti Street or at your hotel, free of charge. Or at Batumi airport: delivery there is free and round the clock, we meet you at the car park. Kobuleti is 30 to 40 minutes from either point.
