In Svaneti and Tusheti you do need a proper 4WD. Kazbegi in summer is paved, so you can go without it; in winter and on the steep track to Gergeti it’s better with 4WD. In Gudauri in winter you should take a 4WD. If you stay on city routes and main highways, a sedan can be enough.

Full CASCO is included; with 2+ years of driving experience there’s no deductible, and with less than 2 years a deductible applies (amount depends on the model and is agreed individually). Gravel roads are allowed, but drive carefully. Tires and the underbody are never covered anywhere, including gravel and mountain roads; punctures and underbody damage are paid by the renter. In an accident do not move the car, call 112, and inform the company; insurance does not apply if you drive under the influence.

Deposit: none; premium‑class cars require a $100 deposit, refundable at return. Minimum rental is 24 hours; if your experience is under 2 years, a deductible applies. Drivers must be 21+ with at least 1 year of experience; a second driver is free if they meet the same requirements. Licenses from any country are accepted with the original on you; no IDP required; bring your passport and license.

Winter tires are fitted from November and included in the price. Mountain passes can close during blizzards, so check road status before you go. For snowy days in Gudauri and the Kazbegi area, take a 4WD.
